It’s our birthday!

Sisters of the Road is bravely charting new territory.

We are finally pursuing the dream we’ve had as an organization for decades; to move to a bigger, better space to offer more meals, more barter work, more room to gather, more space for day-time rest, and more opportunities to come together and address the root causes of poverty and homelessness.

As we look back at Sisters’ history, one thing we can claim for certain is Sisters’ resilience. This is not the first time we’ve faced a big transition. It’s not even the first time we’ve had to temporarily close our doors. Sisters has faced challenges before. When we closed our doors, it was always to reassess, make improvements, and reopen better than before.

Sisters is not going anywhere. We are here to stay.

We will keep moving, keep pressing forward, and remain an accountable resource for our community. We believe, with our whole hearts, that this is the best choice for Sisters’ future.

Right now, it is important for us to pause, take a deep breath, and celebrate how far we have come.

Let’s keep our eyes on the little wins that will soon add up to a huge victory. With your backing, we know we’ll cross the finish line.

To help us celebrate, we are asking 44 people to donate $44 (or more) on our birthday, and help us raise $1,979, a number that symbolizes the year of our founding.

If you want to contribute more, share your favorite memory about Sisters of the Road here or host your own fundraiser for us.

Here’s to another 44 years!
