Peer to Peer Spotlight: Cindy Lommasson
At Sisters, we are working to move towards community centric fundraising. Cindy Lommasson helped us tremendously this year by being our first volunteer fundraiser, venturing out into the community to talk about Sisters and gather support. We asked Cindy, “Why do you support Sisters?” Here’s what she has to say:
“I’ve been aware of Sisters and their work running a cafe since the beginning. I used to eat at the former BoxCar Bertha’s, and have attended organizing meetings at Sisters of the Road Cafe. What drew me to Sisters is the strength of their mission and the commitment of staff and volunteers I’ve met. I am most interested in systemic change. I feel so fortunate, and can’t help feeling compassion for those that have been ignored and left behind. Asking friends and acquaintances for money is not easy, but I enjoy discussing the issues at stake, even though not everyone is willing or able to donate at a particular time. It turns out that many of my friends are already longtime supporters of Sisters.”
