ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR:
Position is responsible to ensure that all programs have the tools and resources needed to run smoothly and within the philosophies of non-violence and gentle-personalism.  Desired skills include: community organizing, expertise in supervision and support of staff, leadership in long-range planning and implementation, creative visioning, listening and empowering others to create & implement solutions, and personal organization.  Three years of program management experience is desired.  Position is full-time with benefits; we offer a one-month paid sabbatical after three years of full-time employment.

Sisters Of The Road Position Description

Position: Associate Director Classification: Exempt

Salary:  $48,152 Supervisor:  Executive Director

Physical Tasks:  The ability to climb a staircase.  Equipment Used:  Standard Office Equipment

Qualifications/Skills:
• Ability to model and mentor “Sisters” philosophy of Non-Violence and Gentle Personalism.
• Administrative and managerial skills related to planning, organizing, coordinating, delegating, reporting and evaluation.
• Knowledge of financial management and budgeting.
• Experience in supervision of employed and volunteer staff.
• Ability to relate to the “Sisters” community
• Ability to anticipate, identify, and analyze problems, and to make timely decisions based on relevant data.
• Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
• 3 years progressively more responsible non-profit management experience.

Responsibilities:
This position is responsible for ensuring that the programs of “Sisters” are conducted in a manner consistent with the philosophy, mission statement, driving values as well as federal/state/local laws and regulations.  This position provides advice to the Executive Director and the Administration Team on these matters, recommending revisions when necessary.  The Associate Director participates as a conflict resolution facilitator at Sisters.  They help ensure the organization and programs receive community input in goals and activities.

The Associate Director supervises the Café Operations and Systemic Change Managers, and supports these programs and staff in having the tools & resources they need to operate.  This position supports the development of the annual budgets and plans of work for Systemic Change, Hot Meals/Barter and Volunteer Programs.  They are primarily responsible for maintaining our 501H status and for training the organization on the reporting needs related to this status.

This position supervises the Volunteer Coordinator and ensures this program is able to provide volunteer support throughout the organization.  The Associate Director is liaison to the Leadership Development Committee of the Board, ensuring that Sisters meets its goals for Board and other volunteer development.

The Associate Director works closely with development regarding messaging and expressing the work that is happening in the programs.  They support development through providing updated program information, keeping grant templates and reports up-to-date, some major donor relationships and some grant writing.

The Associate Director assists the Executive Director with the planning & visioning process for the whole organization and attends board meetings as a representative of programs.  They participate in some work in the neighborhood & city or region wide per Sisters’ initiatives and activities at the time.
