In May, 2007, Sisters published Voices from the Street:  Truths about Homelessness from Sisters Of The Road, by Jessica P. Morrell, Foreward Author & Co-founder of Sisters, Genny Nelson.  The content for this book was based on 515 qualitative interviews from Sisters’ Research Project; click here to purchase the book.

About Sisters’ Research & Database Project

Launched in the Fall of 2001, Sisters’ Community Organizing Project completed 600 one-to-one qualitative interviews with people experiencing homelessness.  In two-hour interviews, people from Sisters’ community described their experiences of life on the streets, and made important suggestions to solve homelessness once and for all.  Once the data was transcribed and coded, 515 usable interviews were used as a basis for our book and database.  We urge people to use this data in their communities, schools and organizations in an effort to shed light on the calamities of homelessness from the experts, people in our community.

Since 2005, we have responded to dozens of requests for our data from many groups, including: students, teachers, social service organizations and workers, faith communities, government employees, activists, reporters and more.  We also use the project data within our organization to help us define our work and support our organizing efforts.
